Access Bingham County Clerk Records

The Bingham County Clerk of the District Court / County Clerk records search starts with a unified local office. The elected clerk supports District Court and Magistrate Division case administration while also managing county clerk, recorder, auditor, elections, and public-record functions. Court file copies use the court records request channel, while county administrative and recorder records use the county public-record or recorder channels. Certified copies, marriage licenses, recording fees, and staff routing depend on which part of the clerk's office holds the record.

Bingham County Clerk Profile

Bingham County uses a unified clerk structure for court and county records. Pamela W. Eckhardt is listed as County Clerk on the official Clerk's Office page. The same local office is also central to court records because, in the clerk's capacity as Clerk of the District Court, deputy court clerks manage civil and criminal cases presided over by Magistrate and District Court judges. That makes the office both a county-government records hub and a key court-record access point.

The official Clerk's Office page describes the office as the hub of county government serving both the public and other county departments. Public-facing duties include recording and maintaining property-related documents, issuing marriage licenses, processing passport applications, voter registration, and county elections. Internal county duties include accounting for funds, payroll through the auditor's office, preparing the proposed county budget, calculating the property tax levy, maintaining Board of County Commissioners minutes, keeping contracts, resolutions and ordinances, maintaining commissioner agendas, and handling indigent-services applications and recommendations.

Bingham County Clerk Roles

The same elected office touches several different record streams. Court records are not handled the same way as recorded land documents, marriage licenses, election records, budgets, or commissioner minutes. The right channel depends on whether the request is judicial, recorder-based, or county administrative.

  • Clerk of the District Court: supports District Court and Magistrate Division case administration through deputy court clerks.
  • County Clerk: maintains county board minutes, contracts, resolutions, ordinances, agendas, and public-facing county records.
  • Recorder: records and indexes documents relating to property and issues recorded document copies.
  • Auditor: handles county funds, payroll, proposed budget work, and property tax levy calculations.
  • Elections: manages voter registration and county election functions.
  • Marriage license office: issues Bingham County marriage licenses through the Recorder's Office in Room #107.

Bingham County Court Record Requests

Court file requests use the Bingham County Courts record request channel rather than the county administrative public-record form. The court request contact is Bingham County Courts, 501 N Maple, Blackfoot, ID 83221, phone (208) 782-3130, fax (208) 782-3167, email lgardner@bingham.idcourts.gov. The District Court staff directory names Lori Gardner as Court Records with that same phone and email. The form says some case files and records maintained by the court are confidential and exempt from disclosure under Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32.

The form asks for requestor identity and contact information, whether the requester is a party to the case, the Bingham County case number if known, date of birth where relevant, a description of the records requested, and a signature. It directs requesters to describe first and last names of parties, document types, approximate date opened, and whether certification is needed. The Clerk's Office will notify the requester within three working days of action being taken and will attempt to locate the file within 10 working days.

Request Bingham County Certified Copies

Certified copies are usually needed when a court order, judgment, decree, letters, or recorded instrument must be accepted by another court, agency, bank, title company, or government office. A plain copy may show the text of the document, but certification shows it is a clerk-certified copy of the record. For court files, the certification request goes through the court records process. For recorded documents, the Recorder's Office handles recorded document copies and certification.

  1. Identify whether the record is a court file, recorded document, marriage license record, or county administrative record.
  2. For court files, search iCourt if needed and write down the Bingham County case number, party names, case type, and document name.
  3. Submit the Bingham County Court Record Request form to the court records clerk when the item is a judicial record.
  4. State clearly that certification is needed and identify each document to certify.
  5. Pay the copy fee and the certification fee when staff grants the request and calculates the cost.
  6. For recorded instruments, contact the Recorder's Office and ask for the recorded document copy or certified copy.

Note: Court staff may deny, redact, or route records for judicial approval when ICAR 32 or a court order restricts access.
